What to wear on a pre-wedding photoshoot

January 29, 2017

It is the first question I am asked when organising a pre-wedding photoshoot so I thought I would do a little write up on it!

Firstly and most importantly, you need to be comfortable! If you are comfortable in what you are wearing then this will show in the photographs and your confidence will be evident.

Secondly, there are a couple of things you should consider when deciding on outfits. Do you have a theme? Have you confirmed the location? A beach shoot will most likely be bare footed and require a more casual dress whereas for a shoot in a lush green park you may want to consider dressing up a little.

For example, a beach shoot could be light neutral colours, something loose and floaty and for a park shoot maybe a dress and heels or jeans and heels for girls and a shirt and jeans for the boys. It is also important to compliment each other, you should both stick to colours that match and nothing too patterned as this can be very distracting.

Thirdly, it is a great idea to combine your pre-wedding photoshoot with your makeup trial. This way you will be able to see how your makeup will photograph on the wedding day. Most brides will know to ask their make up artist to add more blusher or eye liner so that it stands out more on their photographs.

Lastly, a pre-wedding photoshoot is a great way for you to work with your photographer and know which angles work best for you both. It will also help you fight some of the nerves that come when being photographed. You will find that on your wedding day you will feel more confident and less awkward. Ultimately, it is the chemistry and body language between the two of you that will result in the most beautiful and natural of photographs.
